As the temperature decreases, you may be leaning to stay inside; however, there are still many activities, that have not been affected by COVID, that you and your family can enjoy. We have created a list of a few of those activities.
1. Visit the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center
The Moses Lake Museum and Art Center (MLMAC) in Moses Lake, Washington hosts a wide variety of activities, including classes and shows for the whole family. Opening November 21st the Museum Store will have art from local artist, toys and more. Stop by to purchase something for your loved ones and support local talent.
MLMAC is also hosting several classes like their Corn Husk Dolls Class on November 14th. Register and bring your kiddo to learn something new. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of their monthly family Saturday’s where you can pick up a craft kit-to-go to do at home with your children.
2. Join the Book Club
Hosted by the MLMAC, Not Your Mother’s Book Club is currently meeting virtually, but they are planning to transition into in person meetings once COVID restrictions are lifted. The NYM Book Club has a special focus on covering books that help “increase knowledge and cultural awareness, to acknowledge the biases that we all struggle with and to elevate voices that have been discounted for too long”.
5. Run/Walk in a Virtual 5K
The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation is hosting it’s 10th Annual Turkey Trot. Due to COVID, this year’s 5k will be hosted virtually from Nov 21, 2020 – November 29, 2020. Register today to help raise funds for this amazing organization that continuously helps member’s of our community.
4. Join the Thanksgiving Poker Run
The Sand Scorpions ORV Group Run will be hosting a Thanksgiving Poker Run on November 28 at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes. There Halloween Poker Run was a blast, so don’t miss your chance to join the fun on the 28th.
6. Go Ice Skating
The Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Ice Rink is usually open mid-November through February. The Ice Rink offers skating lessons as well as skate rentals. They have yet to announce their 2020 -2021 hours, due to COVID, but they will be posted on their site once they have been determined. PC: cityofml.com
7. Hunt in the Columbia Basin
Visit http://www.eregulations.com/washington/hunting/ to learn more about hunting and fishing in the area. The booklets on this site include information such as hunt dates, hunt types, and permit requirements.
8. Attend a Holiday Workshop
Seed Cupboard Nursery in Royal City is hosting several workshops starting November 10th through December 6th. From creating beautiful centerpieces to decorating Gnomes, you’re sure to feel the holiday spirit at one of these workshops.
